How to use it

  1. Say what you do and who it’s for

Plain words work better than clever ones. “Hair salon for cuts and color” and “people growing out old color” give the tool more to work with than “beauty destination”.

  2. Add one true thing about how you work

Every color starts with a plan. We text a photo before we touch the car. Made in small batches. This is the line that stops a bio reading like every other bio, and nothing is invented for you.

  3. Pick the action, then copy one

Book, call, order, visit or message becomes the last line. “No emoji” means none at all. Open Instagram, tap Edit profile, paste it in, and check it saves.

How much 150 characters is

A bio may be 150 characters long, and that is less than it sounds. The auto repair shop bio drawn here uses 121 of them across 4 lines, leaving 29.

Spaces, punctuation and line breaks all count. Instagram will not save a bio that goes over, so a bio over 150 is thrown away here rather than shown to you.

Four short lines of bio text, counted as a person reads them and as a counter written in code reads them

Baker 👩🏽‍🍳 since 20091824

Instagram does not say which of those two counts it uses, so every bio here is kept inside 150 by both and fits either way. Where the two disagree, the tool prints both numbers. Line breaks count as one character each, and a bio here uses at most 4 lines.

Common questions

How long can an Instagram bio be?

150 characters. Spaces, punctuation and line breaks all count. Instagram will not save a bio that is longer, so every bio this tool shows you is inside 150 before you ever see it.

Do line breaks work in an Instagram bio?

Yes. Instagram keeps line breaks, and most business bios read better on two or three short lines than in one block. Each break costs one character. This tool uses at most 4 lines and never leaves a blank one, and the bio you copy carries its breaks with it.

Can I put a link in my bio?

Instagram gives you a separate website field under the bio. That is where a link belongs, and it does not use up your bio characters. This tool never writes a web address, an @name or a hashtag into the bio itself, because it cannot know which link or which account is yours.

Why do two character counters disagree about my bio?

Emoji. A phone shows one picture where a counter written in code sees two characters, or four for a flag, or seven for a family with a skin tone. Instagram does not say which kind it counts, so every bio here is kept inside 150 by both, and the count beside each bio shows both numbers when they differ.

What do I have to type in?

Four things: your business name, what you do, who it is for, and one true thing about how you work. That last box is what stops a bio reading like every other bio, so make it specific — a photo and a quote before any work starts, every color booking beginning with a plan. Nothing is invented for you, so anything you leave out stays out.

Can I get bios with no emoji at all?

Yes. Choose “No emoji” and any bio containing one is refused before it reaches you. Choose “A few emoji” and you get at most three in a bio, used to break it into parts rather than to replace words.

What can’t this tool do?

It cannot see your account, save anything to your profile, or check that a bio was accepted. It cannot tell you whether a bio will bring you followers or move you up in search, and it does not claim to. Copy a bio in, read it once, and change anything that is not true of your business.

Is it free, and what happens to what I type?

It is free and needs no account or card, with a daily limit so it stays available for everyone; the tool says when to try again if you reach it. What you type is sent to Soyla’s generation service and its AI provider to write the bios, and the results stay available to the same browser session for 15 minutes.
